Whether you’re a business owner trying to improve the relationship you have with your customers… or a copywriter trying to improve the relationships you have with your clients, this can have a tremendous impact on your life and business.
Relationships are the foundation of everything.
Families… businesses… friendships… everything.
If you don’t have a solid, trusting relationship, you should not be working together. It’s as simple as that.
Unfortunately, most people simply aren’t aware that you can increase the quality of relationships FAST.
And that’s what I’m going to reveal to you today 🙂
So let’s get to it.
#1 – Be Genuinely Excited: Many times when I first talk to a client on the phone, I’ll ask certain questions such as how their business is going, what goals they’re trying to achieve with the project they offered me, etc. etc. And when they give me the answers, I’m genuinely excited for them to reach those goals. After all, improving profits for my clients is NOT only about me. It’s about helping my clients… and helping my clients customers!
#2 – Reinforce Small Promises Early On: Here’s something my mentor told me a few months ago. The fastest way to build trust in a relationship is to promise them something, and then deliver on it. Not only that, but remind them that you promised them what you just delivered.
Here’s an example.
Let’s say you get a new prospect and promise to send them 3 things (such as referrals, samples, etc.) by a 3 p.m. the same day. You would then do what you promised, and say… “As promised, here’s everything I promised to send”. Every time you do this, you build a stronger connection to that person. And YES, the small things DO matter!
#3 -Apologize For Your Mistakes: Unfortunately most people today simply don’t think they ever do anything wrong. They put 0 responsibility on themselves, and 100% on the other person. Here’s a reality check. If you don’t find yourself admitting to doing something wrong at least a few times per week, you need to be real with yourself and bring your ego down a few notches! Being able to take responsibility is the mark of an amazing person who others want to have stick around.
There are dozens of other ways to increase your client relationships… but focus on these 3 and you’ll do fine.
And when you’re good with these and want to learn more about being a very “likable” person, I suggest picking up a copy of How To Win Friends And Influence People. I’ve already read it 3x, and am planning to read it again this year as a refresher.
So how are YOUR relationships? There’s no shame in having bad or mediocre relationships now, as long as you’re willing to work on it. Shoot me a comment below and I’ll help in any way I can!
